Couplings

Couplings are the connection between the hose and the instrument. They are mainly used in dental turbines, but can also be found as a connector in motor hoses.

Turbine couplings

The coupling between the hose and the motor is always matched to the brand used. As a rule, there is a K – for Kavo®, an S – for Sirona, a W – for W&H ®, an N – for NSK ® etc. on the turbine to identify the appropriate coupling and thus the connection type.

So a Sirona® coupling with light would fit a Kavo® E680LS turbine and a Sirona T2 Control CK would fit on a Kavo® Multiflex®.

Clutches are available with and without lights. If a clutch is equipped with lights, you have the choice of using xenon light - a high-pressure lamp - or equipping the turbine clutch with an LED to have brighter, daylight-like light.

Another wearing part in turbine couplings are the seals and O-rings. Seals are usually located on the underside of the coupling and seal the coupling to the hose. The O-rings are located on the upper shaft of the coupling and seal the turbine coupling at the attachment piece, i.e. towards the turbine, so that nothing drips.

Engine coupling

Motor couplings are actually used primarily as a connection piece between the Sirona SL hose and the Sirona ® SL motor. In the older SL motor hoses, the coupling is a removable accessory, the newer Sirona ® SL D+ hoses have this coupling permanently mounted as a connection.
