Choose between the cost-effective classic xenon high-pressure lamp with warm white light or the new LED lamps that produce a very bright light similar to daylight.

In dental practices, light bulbs are often required for couplings or motors. These are easily accessible and can usually be replaced without any problem. Less frequently, LEDs and HD lamps are also installed directly in the instruments - e.g. in some contra-angles or turbines from W&H® or BienAir® or hoses.

A distinction is made between xenon lamps and LEDs. Xenon bulbs are also called HD lamps or high-pressure lamps.

Xenon lamps for turbine clutches and micromotors

Xenon lamps, also called high-pressure lamps or HD lamps, have a lens on the top that improves the light output. They are usually filled with gas.

High pressure lamps are robust and cost-effective. The color temperature is 2500 - 3000 K, the voltage is 3.5 V. These HD lamps are usually easy to change and have a good price-performance ratio. As a rule, there are high-quality third-party xenon lamps for the turbine couplings and micromotors from Kavo ®, Sirona ®, BienAir ®, W&H ®, NSK ®, MK-dent ® and BA international ®.

The installation of LEDs and xenon lamps in turbine couplings and dental motors

Changing the bulbs is easy to do yourself, at least in most clutches and engines. You can find instructions in the operating manual or on the manufacturer's website. Please ensure that the contacts do not bend or break during installation.

If the voltage is too high, it will shorten the lifespan of the LED or possibly destroy it during installation.

For some models, it may be advantageous to have the lamps replaced by a specialist, especially if the instrument has to be completely dismantled. If you are unsure, please do not hesitate to contact us.
