We often receive scalers that are completely stuck on the inside with prophylaxis powder.

How does this happen?
This is usually caused by defective seals on the powder jet handset (handpiece).
Due to back suction, powder residues get into the coupling and also into the dental hose. If a scaler handpiece is then connected, these residues are blown into the scaler and lead to either loss of function or damage to the handpiece.
What are the consequences of this defect?
This relatively small defect can also lead to costly repairs to the treatment unit. The powder can continue to work its way up the hose until it reaches the unit and then possibly causes damage to valves or other parts.
What can be done about it?
To prevent a defect, it is important to regularly check and replace the O-rings on the powder blasting mobile.
The coupling and hose should also be checked.
... and what if there are already residues in the handpiece?
If you notice residues in the handpiece, coupling or hose, it is important that they are removed quickly and thoroughly.
A scaler handpiece can be completely disassembled and cleaned in a specialist workshop.
Parts that have already been damaged may need to be replaced. The clutch can also be cleaned.
