Why is oiling so important?
Correctly oiling the collets has a cleaning and lubricating effect. If used correctly, the service life of the instruments can be increased.
Angle head with deposits and broken bearing
We often receive instruments with black, heavily encrusted, partly rusty drives or rotors and broken bearings.
How do these deposits come about?
This abrasion - possibly combined with abrasive particles and disinfectants - settles on the components.
If the instrument - and in particular the head - is not oiled at all or only rarely, this can lead to encrustations and corrosion that build up from sterilization to sterilization. In some cases, these deposits even "burst" the bearings.

How can I remove the deposits?
In our opinion, you should oil the head before each sterilization by spraying it directly into the collet using an oil bottle attachment. It is a good idea to hold a cloth on the snap fastener side to catch any oil that comes out.
When using an automatic machine, we believe that manual oiling of the heads after automated oiling is advantageous.
What are the benefits of regular oiling?
Even if the durability of the instruments is shortened due to the increased thermo-mechanical stress, the maintenance intervals can be positively influenced by proper care.
Which oil should you use?
| Where can I buy the adapter for the collet?
When you buy an instrument, you will often find an adapter in the sales packaging. If you cannot find this, we offer attachments for care oil bottles in our shop www.dentrotec.de.
The operating manual usually also contains maintenance instructions for manual oiling. These can sometimes also be downloaded from the manufacturer's website.
With the kind permission of Mk-dent, you can download instructions for oiling turbines here. In principle, these can also be used for contra-angles.
Here you can download the instructions for mechanical and manual processing:
