Rotors for dental turbines and laboratory turbines
The rotor of a turbine generates the rapid, rotating movement of the drilling instrument via an air stream. This puts it under particular strain. Turbines are powered by compressed air and rotate at up to 400,000 - 450,000 rpm, depending on the model and head size. This high speed is responsible for the unpleasant high-frequency noise, among other things.
Turbines with different head sizes
Turbines are available with different sized heads. Small, medium and large. This is usually indicated by additional names such as mini, torque, micro or standard and others. Sometimes you have to be familiar with the model names to be able to tell the difference. The size of the head offers the dentist different advantages, but sometimes it also has disadvantages. Smaller heads are often used for smaller mouths, such as children's mouths, but the smaller the head, the less power and the louder the turbine. Small rotors often wear out faster.
Rotor quality - dentrotec offers dental rotors with an optimal price-performance ratio
The quality of the rotor and the ball bearings, as well as maintenance, also influences the noise level. Basically, dentrotec only offers rotors with a very good price-performance ratio. In addition to the high-quality standard rotors, you can also find the premium rotors, or the myonic ® rotor quality. Standard replacement rotors are equipped with a steel sleeve and ceramic ball bearings. Premium rotors have a hard metal sleeve with premium ceramic ball bearings. Myonic ® rotors have a metal guide bush, the components are caulked and they are equipped with myonic ® ceramic ball bearings. The installation of a hard metal sleeve increases concentricity and optimizes vibration-free operation. Premium and myonic ® rotors are more expensive, but also calmer, quieter and, with appropriate maintenance, more durable.
